Property from the Collection of Mrs. Paul Mellon
Lead art director/ designer on the Mrs Paul Mellon Auctions from proposal stages through exhibition design and final auctions.
The Mellon auctions were held in New York in November 2014 commencing with an evening sale dedicated to a curated selection of Mrs. Mellon’s fine art, which encapsulates her sophisticated eye and approach to collecting. The pieces on offer in the Masterworks auction spanned four centuries, led by two incredible paintings by Mark Rothko that are estimated at $20,000,000-30,000,000 and $15,000,000-20,000,000, respectively. Sotheby’s presented Mrs. Mellon’s collection of Jewels & Objects of Vertu in a dedicated auction featuring a spectacular Fancy Vivid Blue diamond. The series culminated in a three-day Interiors sale, offering fine art, furniture, porcelain, silver, glassware, decoration and more from the Mellons’ residences, providing an intimate portrait of their daily lives.
Each invitation is designed to carefully reflect the tone and style of the specific event. Custom type treatment, foil stamping, letterpress and specialty papers are used to create luxe and memorable pieces.
Brand identity for the collection from proposal stages through exhibition and auction.
Futur! Masterworks of the Avant-Garde – one the first and most extraordinary collections created by Alain Tarica was sold at auction at Sotheby's New York's Impressionist & Modern Art Evening sale November 2013.
Each of the fourteen works in the collection was created in the early 20th century, when the world was being transformed by mass communication, the automobile, the aeroplane, photography and cinema. Artists working at this time – including Giacomo Balla, Joan Miró, Francis Picabia, Pablo Picasso and Juan Gris – raced to embrace the future. Their groundbreaking works tell not only the story of the European avant-garde, from Cubism and Futurism to Dada, Surrealism and Abstraction, but also laid the foundation for more recent movements such as Pop Art and Conceptual Art.
